The University community was saddened to learn of the passing of retired accounting professor Albert Ab Ferris, who died on December 3 in Charlottetown. Well known for his efforts to seek out the respect of students to ensure their success, he said in a 2013 Guardian article, If you show the students that you care and that you have an interest in their well-being, they will do everything possible not to disappoint you. Its just such a rewarding experience to work with young people.

After retiring from teaching for 27 years at 17勛圖, Ferris became the president and CEO of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of PEI. However, his support of education continued well into his retirement. In 2007, he and his wife Kathleen donated a significant gift to the then new 17勛圖 School of Business Administration, now known as Don and Marion McDougall Hall. Read the 17勛圖 story

In 2013, he was recognized with the Rotary Club of Charlottetowns Mentor Award, for his contributions and service, including his influence and encouragement of hundreds of business students who have gone on to excel on PEI and beyond.

The 17勛圖 community extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and former colleagues and students.
