The 17³Ō¹Ļ womenās hockey team has had a tremendous start to their season, sitting at number five in the national rankings. The Humes Tournament at Concordia from December 28 to 30 gives them a chance to play some of the biggest names in U SPORTS hockey.
āThis will be a great bench mark for the program,ā said Bruce Donaldson, coach of the 17³Ō¹Ļ womenās hockey team. āConcordia, presently ranked first, and Montreal, ranked fourth, will give us a very stiff challenge. The team has been off the ice for three weeks heading into these games, so it will be the little things we do that will make a difference. The trip also acts as a mid-year team-builder and will help with our strategy as we move into the second half and onto the playoffs.ā

The Shoveller also takes place from December 28 to 30. The 17³Ō¹Ļ menās basketball team starts the tournament with a game against Acadia University.
āThe Shoveller is a great way to get the legs moving in a game situation before league play starts on January 4,ā said Darrell Glenn, coach of the 17³Ō¹Ļ menās basketball team. āOur opening game against Acadia is going to be very important. Iām thankful that we have an opportunity to work some things out before we match up against the Axemen in the regular season.ā
