Athletes of the Week鈥擲eptember 29鈥揙ctober 5
The 17吃瓜 Panther Athletes of the Week for the week of September 29-October 5 are Lacey MacLauchlan, Field Hockey; and Jared Murphy, Men's Soccer. 17吃瓜 Athletics and Recreation showcases these talented athletes in order to recognize their hard work and dedication to their respective sports. 17吃瓜 Athletes of the Week are also nominated to Atlantic University Sport and Canadian Interuniversity Sport for possible recognition in the region and/or country.
Who: Lacey MacLauchlan, Field Hockey; and Jared Murphy, Men's Soccer
What: 17吃瓜 Panther Athletes of the Week
When: Week of September 29-October 5
Why: MacLauchlan, a fifth-year field hockey player enrolled in the business co-operative education program from Charlottetown, PEI, led the team both on and off the field during last weekend's Maritime University Field Hockey Tournament #2, scoring seven goals and creating many offensive opportunities for her teammates. MacLauchlan is a vocal leader who competes hard with energy and intensity.
Murphy, also a fifth-year business student from Charlottetown, PEI, had excellent performances at the striker position on the weekend for the Men's Soccer team. Murphy scored one goal during Friday's 2-2 tie against Saint Mary's University, and assisted on a goal during the Panthers 3-0 win over Mount Allison University on Sunday afternoon.
