His prolific research led to several publications, including nine books in the field of social anthropology. Dr. Dasgupta believed in community. alongside his academic pursuits, he was actively involved in his Island community as a founding member of the Indo-Canadian Association, chair of the PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation. His smile and spirit were the glue that solidified the connections he built across university and Island communities. He was not alone in building these crucial connections. His lifelong partner of more than 50 years, Krishna Dasgupta, drove these relationships alongside him, with her kindness, wisdom and world-class cooking that nourished budding and established academics alike.
